The fact that engaging with a book in a real and visceral way makes us uncomfortable, means it is exactly the right approach. We know that unease is an exciting sign of personal growth. Our goal with not just our book, but our life, is to engage others to live deliberately from wherever they are in their own journey and that means a different kind of book.
This book is an invitation, but beware – once you engage in the journey, there is no finish line.
We invite you to read our stories and dream of foreign lands. We invite you to tell your own stories and write your thoughts down. The more you cross out, draw pictures, bookmark, and dog ear, the more this adventure becomes your own. You may even think of highlighting or underlining certain passages when you are going about your day. Open it when you feel like you shouldn’t but you must. If you feel like circling, or writing arrows, follow your inspiration.
Perhaps in its most loved moment, it is a book you give as a gift because of what it has meant to you.
This book is organized by seasons as we knew them during our life in the USA, but there is no order to how you move through the stories. The darkest days of winter are the height of summer in some corner of the globe. We encourage you to open the book at random, start from page one, or begin at the end, and move backwards. It is important to do what feels good to you. There is no right or wrong way to enter into a more deliberate life.
It is a memoir, travel companion, and journal all in one and it belongs to all of us. It is not our story, or your story, it is collection of dreams that is growing stronger every day.
